Election 2010 in the Philippines
80Define politics
According to Wikipedia, politics is a process by which groups of people make collective decisions. The term is generally applied to behavior within civil governments, but politics has been observed in other group interactions, including corporate, academic and religious institutions. It consists of "social relations involving authority or power"and refers to the regulation of a political unit, and to the methods and tactics used to formulate and apply policy. The word "Politics" comes from the Greek word Πολιτικά (politika) from politic (adj.), modeled on Aristotle's "affairs of state," the name of his book on governing and governments, which was rendered in English mid-15 century as Latinised "Polettiques." In Latin, this was "politicus" and in French "politique".
Of all the dictionaries I've checked, there's no where you can find a negative definition of politics, well not unless you put an adjective before it. In the Philippines, when you hear the word politics, more often than not, you get a negative feedback. Some would say it's a dirty game, it's hell, it's next to death, etc...People define it as such because of the things happening around, because of the people in authority, and what not.
What do I have to say about politics in my country?
For me, politics in the Philippines is like a scattered-brain, and so with some people governing this country. The government is supposedly a government of the people, by the people and for the people. One of my friends said, "the Philippines is a
government OFF the people, BUY the people and POOR the people. Ü". When I was a kid, I wanted to be a lawyer and become a government official. I didn't know how dirty politics is when I said that not until I grew up and saw what's happening in my country. Since then, I've never thought of becoming one of them ever!
Election 2010
Three months from now, the first automated election will commence. I am not a registered voter as of yet and I don't think I will be in the future. I have seen a few infomercial from aspiring Presidents of the country. I notice that their target market, if I may just say, are the less fortunate (poor) people, it has always been that way! They keep on promising a lot of things to these people and keep them hanging on to those promises. I don't think the government officials know how these people will feel if they won't be able to keep their promises. There are a lot of commonalities noted when they make their platforms or goals, and it has always been the case during campaigns. They want to build schools, hospitals, and the like that will offer free services specially to the less fortunate people in the country. I guess my question for them is, does free service means the same quality as what average people are getting from paying a certain service? If so, there had been a lot of schools and hospitals built that offer free services but look at how the buildings were built, look at how the people there render service to the needy, look at the things used to provide the services!
Even if I didn't register for the election, I still have my top three presidential candidates. I chose them because of their past and current contributions in the country that had helped a lot of Filipinos even if they were not obliged to do so.
They are my top three
If only.. (May 4,2010)
If only I was able to register for the May Election, I will vote for Gilbert "Gibo" Teodoro, and that's final! Why? I have my reasons, that's all I can say. I hope he wins, if not, I hope whoever wins, will make a positive change for our country and for the people.
Vote wisely this coming May 2010 Election

I don't want to decide yet. I'm still weighing the qualities these top three presidential aspirants possess. Mock elections had been made, but the posthumous winner was our National Hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal. Surveys elevate the status of Villar and Aquino, but Gibo will be the dark horse in the race. Let's wait and see.
